Baby it's cold outside! - Winter fashion for Enchanted Dolls
With Polar Vortex snowstorms raging in North America, I decided that my dolls needed some luxurious warm clothes, so I had some made for them. These are one of a kind, faux fir ensembles of matching hats and coats, made in the Russian tradition of winter wear. They fit both porcelain and resin dolls, although it's a roomier fit on resin dolls and a tighter fit on porcelain.1) Winter Romance.1) Midnight Train.3) Siberian Tales.4) Bohemian Beauty.5) A Night in St. Petersburg.6) Northern lights.7) Moscow Dream.
Happy Holidays from Enchanted Doll!
My friends, fans, collectors and fellow artists! Year 2014 is upon us! My family and I would like to wish you all wonderful winter holidays and a prolific and a happy new year!
And speaking of New Years (and by extension, resolutions), here is a funny and informative short episode from SYB: Sustain Your Body web series, made by my personal nutritionist aaaand my dear sister Alina, who is a Nutritionist-in-training at the university of Acadia. Together with her partner Skyler (who is a Kinesiologist-in-training), these two up and coming Nutrition and Fitness Specialists have founded SYB to share quick, effective and sustainable diet and exercise tips for healthier living. Their instructions help me a lot, because I spend most of my time crouched over a desk making dolls and have no time to go work out at the gym. Also, because I hate the gym.
Like Chad and I, Alina and Skyler are a very creative and proactive team, and like Chad and I, they absolutely love what they do. I guess it runs in the family. Check out the Christmas episode of SYB, learn about the turkey and Sustain Your Body! Merry Christmas!

Comedy sketch on dolls by comedian Louis C.K
This is a hilariously accurate account of the doll-making experience. He gets me. So. Much. For those of you who don't know who he is, Louis C.K is a brilliant writer and a stand up comedian with a distinct style of existential humor. His take on life is brutally honest and can be dark or even downright depressing at times, but it's very funny and compelling because it's so real.
Riding in Big White
Chad put together this short video of our trip to the Big White winter resort with a couple of our friends, earlier this year. This little reminder of the good times on the slopes, will help us get through the summer and until the next riding season. I'll miss you, snow.Chad and I are on boards, and our friends Nate and Theresa are on skiis.
Behind Closed Drawers
They contain all kinds of hidden treasures, including a couple of my older, first generation Enchanted Dolls.
My Inspiration Board
There are lots of things pinned up on the inspiration board above my work desk, but I think this picture of Chad and I, is the most important one. Others around it come and go; get put up, get taken down and replaced with new ones, but this one's been there for 12 years.Happy anniversary Chadasaurus. YOU are my Inspiration.Your Marinamal.

Echo Line Debut!
Ladies and gentlemen, I have some exciting news!
Inspired by my recent travels in China, I’m beginning work on the long-awaited, limited edition costumed Echo line! While the entire edition of 30 is in production for the next year, the very first completed Echo of the edition will be available for sale at the 7th International Doll Salon in Moscow, October 6-9th, 2011.
Echo #1 is a part of the advanced mini-edition of five costumed, porcelain Echos called the ”Special Five”, which is set to be released by the end of 2011, featuring one-of-a-kind crowns and accessories that will set them apart from the rest of the edition. The unique features of the Special Five were inspired by the great vibrancy and diversity of traditional ethic ornament I encountered while touring the beautiful China.
Echo 1/30 Construction: Ball-jointed, porcelain doll; Full body ceramic-china painting; Industrial steel spring articulation; Custom made costume, featuring a UV resistant and permanent dye-sublimation print of original bead embroidery; Cast sterling silver crown with synthetic-enameling and beaded pendants; Carved and cast, sterling silver Pedestal shoes accented with blue Opals. Nude doll is 13.5” (34cm) tall.
Purchase details:
Price: $16,000 CND
Buying priority will be given to local public on October 6th, but International sale of Echo #1 opens on October 7th. (Edit, the show has ended, if you are interested, please email inquiries@enchanteddoll.com). Two month layaway is available.
Echo #1 is one of three Enchanted Dolls to be displayed at this event, but only she is available for sale. Each morning I will be present there in person to meet doll fans, so stop by if you're in Moscow.
Please email me if you have any questions regarding this.

Happy New Year!
Chad and I spent the remainder of the Old Year with two dozen of our old friends from high school and university, on a week-long vacation in the remote winter wonderland of British Columbian Interior. It was so cold! We ice skated on the frozen lake, played hockey, skied and I had lots of down time to lay around in the cozy log cabin, drink Baileys-spiked hot chocolate and read the Golden Compass. We celebrated the last moments of 2010 and the first minutes of 2011 by going out onto the dark, frozen expanse of the lake to watch the incredibly bright stars, have fireworks and drink champagne, which quickly froze in the -20°C. I saw 3 falling stars and made three wishes for the new year. It was wonderful!
I didn't make any dolls this week, but i did get to paint real people, when one night someone approached me with a box of face paint and a request to paint his face for fun. While I made him into a bunny-butterfly (a very dangerous and totally real creature), there formed a line up of others who wanted their face done. I spent the night painting my friends into bears, tigers, scarred pirates and other strange creatures. It was my work fix for the week and it was awesome!
Now I'm back and itching for some doll painting. Luckily there is never a shortage of projects around here and I've got lots of things planned and in progress. I've been keeping them a secret from you, but it's time I begin to reveal them one by one. There are some announcements coming up regarding shows, birthday contest, new dolls and other things- so stay tuned!
It will be a great year!
