2004 - Sold

This doll is based on a famous Russian fairytale called, The Tale of Czar Saltan, written in a beautiful rhyming verse by the renowned Russian poet, Alexander S. Pushkin (1799 – 1837).  Swan Princess has been depicted in many different ways, but in my opinion Mikhail Vrubel painted the most majestic one of all in 1900. She is captured at the moment of her magical transformation from a swan into a woman, as she emerges from the sea onto the land, ready to embrace her beloved prince. This painting is the inspiration behind my own Swan Princess.
