The Emperor’s Youngest Daughter is a metaphorical echo of my earlier doll Lotus, because her costume is made from a printed photograph of Lotus’ original bead embroidered dress. Her little feet are also bound and clad in tiny sterling silver slippers. I imagine that Lotus and Echo are mother and daughter. In my continuous search for different methods of producing ornamental textiles, Echo was my first experiment with dye sublimation printing.
