Inspired by a Mary Shelley’s original Frankenstein, Camilla d’Errico’s Helmet Girls, and Erté’s conceptual fashion designs from Harper’s Bazaar magazine, I created my own interpretation of the Bride of Frankenstein. Contrary to her iconic Hollywood image, I envisioned my Bride as a pale blonde, suggesting extensive postmortem trauma during a high voltage reanimation process. In life she was bright and vibrant with dark eyes, raven hair and red lips. Being electrocuted with several thousand volts of electricity destroyed all the pigmentation in her body, bleaching her once vivid complexion. With the absence of blood circulation, the metal helmet is her life support system, pumping oxygen to her brain and zapping it with small amounts of electricity to stimulate neural activity.
