Early stage dress construction is like a bad, awkward hair stage - It looks terrible, nothing works and you feel ugly and demoralized.

To keep going I have to remind myself that the awfulness is transient: The hair grows 10mm a day, and a dress gets assembled one little stitch at a time, until it gets better. Sometimes to get better, it first has to get worse.
